The Essex Hickory Golf Association
The Essex Hickory Golf Association has been set up by myself and a small group of Essex based golfing friends who have an appreciation of the rich history of the game of golf.
Our aim is to promote the playing of golf in its traditional form using hickory shafted golf clubs from the 1920's / 1930's and using balls that are suitable for hickory play.
We play various away days during the summer months with The Essex Hickory Open as our end of season finale.
We feel that some of the artistry in shotmaking has been lost with such rapid advancements in ball & club technology over the past few decades.
Similarly, old fashioned camaraderie and the eternal search and eventual finding of a tiny sweet spot on an antique golf club is more important that what you actually write on your score card.
