Guide Dogs UK
Guide Dogs UK are the world's largest assistance dogs organisation, and are funded almost entirely by donations from the public.
They breed and train dogs to change the lives of visually impaired adults and children.
The Guide Dog story goes back to 1931 when two ladies, Muriel Cooke and Rosamund Bond, trained the first four guide dogs from their home in Wallasey, Merseyside.
Since those humble beginnings 36,000 lives have been transformed through the Guide Dogs organisation.
Guide Dogs UK is a founding member of the International Guide Dogs Federation, now spanning thirty-one countries.
The total cost to raise, train, and maintain their working relationship from birth to retirement is currently £102,000 per dog!
Hickory Golf Days has raised £1,000 at each of the two stagings of The Essex Hickory Open in 2024 and 2025 making a current running total of £2,000.
Many thanks to everyone who has participated and donated in our unique golf events.
