What balls do you recommend?
We provide golf balls that are highly suitable for hickory shafted clubs within the package.
You will find within your golf bag a selection of 1.62" golf balls from the 1960's, plus a selection of modern TEXACANA balls. For a more authentic experience you can take advantage of our free hire of the VICTOR rubber core mesh ball, a superb replica of the most popular ball of the period. The VICTOR is the official ball of the US Hickory Open. You pay for the balls at the start of the day and we give you a full refund on the balls you return. |
What shall I bring with me?
Tee Pegs, Ball Marker, Pitchfork, Pencil and if possible your best Argyle Jumper, Argyle Socks, Flat Cap and most importantly Plus Fours (even if its your normal trousers tucked into long socks). Make the effort and join in the spirit of the day - you'll regret it if you don't!
What shall I leave at home?
Your Golf Balls, Clubs, Bag, Glove and most importantly your Baseball Cap!
What happens if I break a club?
Don't panic, we do not charge for broken clubs, just borrow one from one of your playing partners (hopefully the club was not broken in anger). If you think you might hit a tree on your follow through we respectfully ask that you chip out sideways, rather than risking damage to our golf clubs that are over 90 / 100 years old.
The Legal Bit!!
All golfers participate in our Hickory Golf Days events at their own risk (as in any other normal golf competition) and it is the golfers own responsibility to ensure that they have their own specialist Golfer's Insurance to cover any accidental damage caused to themselves or others whilst on the golf course (as in any other normal golf competition).
