The London Hickory Open
Every October we stage THE LONDON HICKORY OPEN on the delightful nine hole academy course at THE SHIRE LONDON GC.
To view photographs from the inaugural event, simply go to our Gallery Page.
THE LONDON HICKORY OPEN is the first tournament of its kind to be staged in the capital. Professional golfers will be playing for substantial prize money and amateur golfers will be playing for valuable prizes.
THE LONDON HICKORY OPEN is an 18 hole tournament on the picturesque 9 hole Academy Course, with our Super Stableford Playing Format.
Authentic hickory shafted golf clubs from the 1920's/1930's are provided FREE OF CHARGE for all competitors, as well as golf balls that are suitable for hickory play. Anyone who owns their own hickory shafted clubs are welcome to bring them.
Competitors are encouraged to enter into the 'spirit of the day' by dressing in 1920's/1930's clothing. Gentlemen, if possible, should wear plus fours (or even normal trousers tucked into long socks). In addition wearing an oxford shirt, with tie and flat cap would make your outfit complete.
Lady golfers are also encouraged to dress in the 'spirit of the day' - there are prizes for the best dressed player/s !
Here are some previous winners from events staged at: Mardyke Valley GC, Denver GC and North Shore GC.
